SALDRU & ALI-SA Host First Policy Dialogue: What Sacred Policy Cows Need to be Revisited to Unlock South Africa's Potential
We are pleased to announce that SALDRU has entered into a partnership with the African Leadership Initiative-South Africa (ALI-SA), which is affiliated to the Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN). Since its inception, ALI has served as a Pan-African initiative with a strong view that Africa’s future lies in the investment and development of effective, values-based and enlightened African leaders, who guide and lead their countries with integrity. This dinner took place on the 6th of November 2024 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Highlights from the dinner
- Historical Perspective: Participants found unique insights into the triumphs and challenges of our 30-year journey of democracy
- Critical Analysis: Discussions about policies that need to be reformed to pave the way for true economic and social stability and growth were hosted
- Future Visioning: Participants were able to contribute to blue-sky thinking about South Africa in the mid-term—5 years time and what might the next 30 years look like
- Re-connecting and Networking: Connections with fellows and leaders who have shaped our past and those who will forge our future were formed
Further impetus to these discussions will be picked up in the SA@30 conference, where a special session on Overcoming Corruption in SA’s Institutions will be held.
