Tatenda Mugwendere

Post-doctoral fellow

Tatenda is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at SALDRU. He received his PhD in Demography from the University of Cape Town in 2024, where his research focused on union formation and household living arrangements among Black/African women in South Africa. He is currently part of the IIASA–SALDRU collaboration, which applies novel multidimensional demographic modelling and projection tools to examine how near-term investments in education can translate into long-term improvements in human capital development across Africa.


Tatenda also holds an MPhil in Demography (coursework) from the University of Cape Town and a Master’s degree in Population Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
