Joana Kwawu

PhD candidate
Joana is a PhD student in Economics at the University of Cape Town, with research interests in education, health, and labour market dynamics. Her current research examines how education policies shape the intergenerational transmission of human capital and labour market outcomes in Ghana. She is also involved in a collaboration between IIASA and SALDRU that uses multidimensional demographic modelling and projection tools to assess how near-term investments in education can translate into long-term improvements in human capital across Africa. She previously worked as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER).
 
Joana holds a Master of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Ghana.
