Chantelle Ngwenya

Chantelle Ngwenya is a PhD student in Demography at the University of Cape Town, Southern Africa Labour and Development Research Unit (SALDRU). She also holds a master’s degree in Demography from the University of Cape Town, Centre for Actuarial Research (CARe). Her current doctoral research investigates human capital dynamics in Africa, with a specific focus on education disruption and recovery pathways, as well as the impact of education policies on improving educational attainment and the formation of human capital in Zimbabwe. Chantelle’s work examines how individual educational trajectories interact with demographic and socio-economic factors, highlighting how accounting for population heterogeneity is key for targeted policy formulation. Her professional experience includes statistical data analysis, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of health and education outcomes in Zimbabwe.
