A recent article in The Conversation written by Murray Leibbrandt discusses some findings from the book SALDRU recently worked on with the World Bank and Agence Française de Développement: Inequalities in Sub-Saharan Africa: Multidimensional Perspectives and Future Challenges. The book identifies the key dimensions, challenges and causes of inequalities in the region, and proposes some solutions for equitable and sustainable development. These include progressive taxation and policies that address inequalities at their roots. Separately, co-editor Vimal Ranchhod was interviewed on Newzroom Afrika about the book and the specific issue of inequality in South Africa.
