Unlocking Green Jobs through Local Renewable Energy Investment
SALDRU will be jointly hosting a strategic event with the National Business Initiative focused on building a Just Energy Transition (JET) through skills development, localisation, and labour market reform in the Western Cape. South Africa’s energy future depends on more than just infrastructure; it requires targeted investment in people and skills.
The event will explore the insights gained from recent collaborative research on opportunities for localisation in the renewable energy value chains, the skills challenges and opportunities associated with localisation opportunities, and the implications for positioning the TVET system to ensure such opportunities can be optimised.
The research will be published as a forthcoming SALDRU Working Paper before the event.
The event will be held from 11h00-13h00, Thursday, the 31st of July 2025, at the Southern Sun Waterfront Cape Town, 1 Lower Buitengracht, Cape Town.
