SALDRU will host its two annual, one-week training courses at UCT this July, aimed at building practical skills in empirical social science research.

The Social Science Research Using Survey Data course (6–10 July) introduces participants to working with household survey data, using National Income Dynamics Study (NIDS) data to cover descriptive statistics, data analysis, and basic regression techniques in Stata.

The Data Wrangling with Stata course (13–17 July) focuses on the often-overlooked foundations of good research: managing, cleaning, and structuring data, with an emphasis on reproducible workflows and efficient project organisation.

Both courses are hands-on, targeted at graduate students and researchers, and include daily lectures and computer labs. There is no registration fee.
